  1. To consult with and advise the library, other university units, and external organizations on technology issues.
    • Meet regularly with departmental liaisons to discuss emerging technologies, computing support, and other issues related to the services provided by the Technology Services unit.
    • Continue team members' education of existing and emerging technologies and their potential applications within the library.
    • Serve on university technology related committees.
    • Interact with other university libraries on shared technology concerns.
    • Represent the library to external organizations such as NC LIVE on technology related issues.
  2. To assess library computer hardware/software needs and manage library computer assets.
    • Maintain inventory of all library computer hardware and software.
    • Make annual recommendations for replacement and upgrade of computer hardware/software based on consultation with library teams.
  3. To maintain technology related facilities and equipment within the library.
    • Manage, support, and schedule the public computer lab.
    • Manage, support, and schedule the multimedia lab.
    • Manage, support, and schedule the film screening room.
    • Manage, support, and schedule the electronic classroom.
  4. To manage, maintain, support, secure, and develop the integrated library system, digital collections management system, electronic resource management system, and resource access management system.
    • Communicate regularly with Endeavor and library staff on new and outstanding issues.
    • Communicate regularly with other university units regarding systems.
    • Implement solutions to enhance systems and integrate them with other university systems.
    • Develop means to extract information from systems for use to support library decision-making.
  5. To provide end user support.
    • Develop and maintain standard load and library specific software.
    • Repair hardware.
    • Empower library staff to address less technically complex problems through informal and formal instructional methods.
  6. To provide means to integrate and support electronic resources in various formats as necessary.
    • System administration of CD-ROM server.
    • Update database content as available.
    • Provide access to resources through appropriate interfaces.
  7. Working in cooperation with the Staff Development Committee, to provide appropriate and timely instruction for library staff in application software.
    • Identify staff training needs.
    • Design and deliver training and documentation.
    • Assess training effectiveness and track staff participation.
  8. To provide technology training to students and faculty.
    • Coordinate, develop, and deliver yearly laptop orientation for incoming students.
    • Provide continuing training classes for all university students on standard university load applications.
    • Coordinate, develop, and deliver training on administrative and academic applications to faculty.
    • Provide instruction on multimedia hardware and software through the multimedia lab.
  9. Administer the design and maintenance of the library web site.
  10. To provide service and resources to university patrons seeking to integrate technology in academic pursuits.
    • Blackboard Support.
    • Multimedia Development.
    • Consult with faculty concerning integration of multimedia and pedagogy.
    • Circulation of multimedia equipment
