Technology Use Policies
Equipment Checkout Policies
For information on what items are available for checkout, please see ITC Equipment.
- Each item has a 3-day loan period with no renewal and must be checked out with a valid WFU ID card.
- The equipment is loaned on a first-come first-served basis and cannot be reserved ahead of time.
- All equipment must be checked out through the ITC desk.
- When a user checks out a piece of equipment or accessory item, a customer checkout receipt is generated that shows the due date.
- A hard copy notice explaining the policy is included with each item.
A day before it is due, a courtesy reminder is emailed to the user. Once the equipment is overdue, the fine will accrue on a daily basis for a two week period. Overdue notices showing the accrued charge are sent daily. After two weeks, the equipment is declared lost and a lost fee is incurred. If the student returns the item at that time, the lost charge will be forgiven, but the fine is still owed. Faculty and staff are not charged fines.
The fine/lost fee schedule is:
- Camera
- $5.00/day overdue fine; $150 lost/replacement fee
- Camcorder
- $5.00/day overdue fine; $500 lost/replacement fee
- Projector
- $10.00/day overdue fine; $800 lost/replacement fee
- Accessories (cords and cables, power supplies, projector screens, tripods, headphones)
- $1.00/day overdue fine; $50 lost/replacement fee
Proceeds from collected fines will be used to increase the equipment loaner pool. Contact the ITC if you have questions.

General rules
- Patrons must show a valid Wake Forest ID at the ITC desk.
- Patrons will not mark desks, chairs, or equipment with pen or pencil.
- Patrons will not put feet on the desk tops or chairs.
- No food in the lab. All drinks must be in a sealed, approved container.
- ITC media policies and the University Computer Use Policy will be strictly adhered to.
- Violating lab rules may result in suspended lab privileges.
Computer Lab Policies
The ITC contains a microcomputer lab which is connected to the campus computer network, allowing users to access software on the Academic Computer (ac). Each computer also has the WFU standard load software. Users may also use the lab to access their email and the Web. Users are not able to save files to the hard drives on these computers. They must save files to their storage medium of choice or to their ac account.
Lab Use
The Microcomputer lab exists for several reasons:
- To give students, faculty and staff access to the standard software load and the Internet
- To host faculty and staff development and training workshops
- To host classroom computer and network instruction
- To host special ITC workshops and presentations
Patrons without a WFU user ID and password can see a staff member at the Reference desk for assistance logging into the computers in the ITC desktop computer lab.
