Back to topManuscripts
Use of unpublished manuscripts is protected by provisions of copyright law and by laws against libel and invasion of privacy. No material from a manuscript collection may be published without prior written permission from the holder of the copyright.
In signing the manuscript request form the user agrees to give proper acknowledgment to the Special Collections Department of the Z. Smith Reynolds Library, and further agrees to secure permission in advance from the Department to publish or broadcast any item, in whole or in part, from its collections. This permission may be granted insofar and only insofar as the rights of Special Collections are concerned. The Library claims only physical ownership of most manuscript collections. Anyone wishing to broadcast or publish this material must assume all responsibility for identifying and satisfying any claimants of literary property rights or copyrights.
Wake Forest University assumes no responsibility for infringement of literary property rights and copyrights, or for liability to any person for defamation or invasion of privacy. Full responsibility for legal questions relating to the use and publication of manuscripts rests with the researcher.
Back to topPhotocopies and Other Reproductions
The copyright law of the United States governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.
Libraries and archives are authorized to provide photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material only under certain conditions, one of which is that the reproduction is to be used for private study, scholarship, or research only. The Special Collections Department reserves the right to refuse any duplication request that would involve a possible copyright infringement.
