On Monday JP, Mary Beth, Tim, Kaeley, Lauren, Leslie, Molly and Erik attended a Sun Webinar on Open Scholarship. Greg Grossmeier talked about Creative Commons licenses. After an overview of various Creative Commons (CC) Licenses, Greg showed some interesting examples of uses of CC licenses (including Wikipedia, Google Advanced Search, and Flickr).

He referenced a recent Nine Inch Nails CD which was published using CC licenses and said that sales hit $1.6 million for a CD which could be downloaded for free. During the Q&A session he commented on the fact that Univ. of Michigan libraries publish all of their website content with a CC license.

More Sun Webinars are scheduled including a presentation by the Internet Archive and an overview of Fedora 3 and Dspace 1.6. More details to follow.
