Citation Indexes vs. Full Text

Citation-only databases do not have any full text online. These databases include the following information to help you find the article elsewhere in the library:

  • author
  • article title
  • journal name or source
  • volume number
  • date
  • page numbers

Some of these databases will also include abstracts.

EconLit and America History and Life are citation databases.

A full text database includes the full text of the articles online. LexisNexis Academic and Contemporary Wormen's Issues are full text databases.

Proquest is one database that includes both citations and full text.
