Call Numbers

Items in the library are organized on the shelves according to the Library of Congress Classification System. The Library of Congress System uses letters and Arabic numerals to assign call numbers.

To locate materials in the library, make note of the complete call number and check a Library Stack Guide to determine where the item is shelved.

Some call numbers include a specific location, for example, Reference, Government Documents, Microtext, Rare Books, Current Periodicals, or Browsing Collection. Check the second section of the Library Stack Guide to find these locations.
