24 Hour Study Room

Located off the library's entrance hallway is an all-night study room. It is open 24-hours while school is in session (summer sessions included).

The Rhoda K. Channing Reading Room is also an all-night study room. It is also located off the entrance hallway and is open 24-hours while school is in session (summer sessions included).

Gerald White Johnson Room

The Gerald White Johnson Room, dedicated to Wake Forest University writers, is located on Reynolds 2, beyond the after hours study room on the right as one enters the library. The room is attractively furnished and houses portraits of Gerald Johnson, A.R. Ammons, W.J. Cash, Thomas Dixon, John Charles McNeill and Laurence Stallings.

The Gerald White Johnson Room is available for meetings and receptions by reservation. Setting up the room and making sure it is clean afterwards are the responsibility of the party making the reservation. For more information and to schedule dates inquire at the Circulation Desk.

Graduate and Faculty Carrels

The library has 90 small study carrels located on various levels of the Reynolds stacks. These are assigned by the Circulation Department for the use of faculty and graduate students on a first-come, first-served basis. Email Peter Romanov in Circulation to reserve a carrel. All Graduate Students are required to leave a $20.00 cash deposit.

Group Study Rooms

The library has seven group study rooms for the use of Wake Forest University students only. Four are located on Reynolds 2, opposite the Circulation Desk, and three more are on Wilson 6.

Reservations for the group study rooms are made using our online study room reservation system. You can book up to two hours per day up to 5 days in advance. WFU username and password are required to make a reservation.

Also, there are two all-night study rooms located off the entrance hallway. These study rooms are open 24-hours while school is in session (summer sessions included).

Library Classroom 204

The Z. Smith Reynolds Library Electronic Classroom is located in room 204, behind the Circulation desk. The classroom is used for computer training, library bibliographic instruction, information literacy (LIB 100 classes), visiting speakers, and limited academic classroom use.

Library 204 has the standard WFU classroom control system and projector and a document camera and VCR are also available. The classroom seats 34, with 2 handicap seats. All seats have ethernet data connections and power outlets.

Library Classroom 476

Library Classroom 476 is used for instruction and meetings. It cannot be reserved except for official library use. When not in use as a meeting/instructional space, room 476 is open for study. Network connections are available.

Rhoda K. Channing Reading Room

The Rhoda K. Channing Reading Room, dedicated to the memory of Rhoda K. Channing, Director of the Z. Smith Reynolds Library from 1989 to 2003, is an all-night study room located off the entrance hallway and is open 24-hours while school is in session (summer sessions included).

Rhoda's Café

The library offers a cyber café where students can relax, study, and surf the Wireless Internet 24/7. Drinks and snacks are available from vending machines. Rhoda's Café is located directly behind the Rhoda K. Channing Reading Room (Room 202) which is entered from the Library foyer.

Undergraduate Lockers

The Z. Smith Reynolds Library has placed lockers inside the 24-hour Rhoda K. Channing Reading Room for use by Wake Forest University undergraduate students.

The following procedures and policies apply:

  1. Locker keys are located at the Z. Smith Reynolds Library circulation desk. Upon presentation of a Wake Forest University ID card, locker keys may be checked out for up to one week at a time.
  2. Locker keys may be renewed online one time. Contact the Circulation staff for subsequent renewals.
  3. Fee for a lost locker key is $5.00
  4. The library is not responsible for stolen, lost, or misplaced items.
  5. Food or drinks placed in lockers must be in closed containers and must be removed when locker key is returned.
  6. The library will open and inspect lockers for maintenance, safety, and emergency purposes as needed.
