What You’re Searching
The box above searches for all journals to which Wake Forest University subscribes.
This includes:
- Print subscriptions for all Wake Forest libraries (Coy C. Carpenter, Professional Center, Z. Smith Reynolds)
- Electronic subscriptions for all Wake Forest libraries
- Journal archives on microfilm
What You’re NOT Searching
The box does not search:
- for specific articles
- the Internet
- any content within any journal.
Use a database to search for subjects, topics, or specific articles.
"Title Begins With" Search
Type the beginning of a title. You may shorten the last word that you type.
journal of pop retrieves "Journal of Popular Culture" while j of pop retrieves no hits.
"Titles Equals" Search
Type a complete and exact title. This is most useful for short titles.
science retrieves "Science," but not "Science & culture"
"Title Contains All Words" Search
This search is useful when you are unsure of some words in the title.
- The words may appear in any order.
- Single letters are ignored.
- You must type complete words unless you use the wildcard symbol: *.
journal religion scientific retrieves "Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion"; journal rel* sci* retrieves "Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion"; journal rel sci retrieves no hits.
ISSN Search
The International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) is listed in parentheses after each applicable title. The dash is optional.
0022-5460 retrieves "Journal of Zoology"; 00225460 retrieves "Journal of Zoology"
Where the Links Lead
Since this service links to journals from many different sources, you will notice different types of destination pages. Some links connect directly to articles from a journal; other links take you to the home page of a fulltext database, where you must search for your article.
For print and microfilm titles, the link leads to the catalog record for the journal.
Coverage Dates
Always check the coverage dates to make sure they include the year you need. For some titles (especially print titles), you may need to click on the link to see what the coverage dates are.
Capitalization
The search is not case sensitive. Therefore english, ENGLISH, and English will all return the same results.
Creating Static Links
You can create static links to results pages within the new journal database. Simply copy and paste the URL from the top of the page. Because of frequent content changes within databases, it is often more stable to link to the results page than to link to a specific database directly.
