Hopkins Residence Hall

Hopkins Residence Hall was built in 2010 and is the first LEED-certified building on the Reynolda campus. It was renovated in 2017. Hopkins is a hall-style residence hall for first year students on south campus. Some of its amenities include a formal parlor, media room, recreation lounge, study spaces, and community kitchens. It was called South Residence Hall until 2025, when it was renamed Hopkins Residence Hall in honor of Beth Hopkins (’73) and Dr. Larry Hopkins (’72, MD ’77).

Beth Hopkins served as a federal prosecutor and as a civil rights attorney. She served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Virginia and Louisiana and as an Assistant Attorney General in Virginia. Dr. Larry Hopkins, a Wake Forest Athletics Hall of Fame running back, became a physician and assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Wake Forest School of Medicine. He was a leader in improving access and outcomes for women’s and neonatal health in Winston-Salem. Wake Forest’s highest honor, the Medallion of Merit was presented to Dr. Larry Hopkins in2020, and Beth Norbrey Hopkins in 2025.
