Spry Soccer Stadium
This “jewel in Wake Forest’s family of athletic facilities” is named after W. Dennie Spry. Spry Stadium is home to the women and men’s soccer teams. It opened in 1996 and can hold 3000 people. It is considered a top soccer facility in the country. The small space puts the fans at the sideline of the action allowing for a unique home field advantage that has propelled both the men and women’s teams to much success. The men’s team has been the top seed in the NCAA tournament three times (‘02, ‘04, ‘08) thanks to the environment at Spry Stadium with one NCAA Championship under their belts in 2007. The Women’s team has had just as much success with a 2010 ACC Championship game victory and 17 NCAA Tournament appearances. Spry’s Army, the student support group of Wake Soccer, stands on guard on “The Hill” which is the northern side of the stadium.
