Biographical and Historical Note
The business school at Wake Forest University was established in 1948 as the School of Business Administration. It became the Charles H. Babcock School of Business Administration in 1969 and was renamed the Babcock Graduate School of Management in 1972 after Charles H. Babcock, an investment banker and supporter of Wake Forest. Babcock was married to mary Reynolds Babcock and together they donated land to move Wake Forest to Wake Forest, among other philanthropic contribitions to Wake Forest and the city. In 2009, the Babcock Graduate School of Management and the Calloway School of Accountancy and Business merged to create the Wake Forest School of Business. Students who are in the Wake Forest School of Business study accountancy, finance, business and enterprise management, and mathematical business. Centers located at the School have included the Center for the Study of Capitalism, Center for Leadership and Character, and Cennter for Analytics.
