John Wesley Clay was a printer, author, and Methodist missionary who traveled to Brazil. His memoirs of life in Brazil are recorded in mimeographed typescript volumes and include photographs and descriptions of life in Brazil in 1924, 1926, and 1930. Clay writes about missionary work, fishing, community life, a revolution that took place in São Paulo in 1924.

Camp John Wesley Clay (Acampamento Clay) was founded in 1956 in the village of Sacra Familia, Brazil, approximately 70 miles from Rio as a summer retreat for children from the low-income areas of Rio.
