Z. Smith Reynolds Library's Special Collections has two sets of recordings of A. R. Ammons reading his poetry. The first consists of approximately 200 poems read and professionally recorded at an event hosted by Thomas and Louise Gossett during the 1974-1975 academic year, while Ammons was a visiting professor at Wake Forest. The second recording informally captures a reading in 1986 at Salem College in Winston Salem. While the quality is poorer on this second recording, it succeeds in capturing Ammons’ warmth and humor in relation to those around him.

ZSR Special Collections published .wav files of these recordings in conjunction with a two-day symposium entitled Single Threads Unbraided: A Celebration of the Work of A.R. Ammons, November 15-16, 2010, sponsored by the Z. Smith Reynolds Library at Wake Forest University.

Also available for streaming is Cascadilla Falls by A.R. Ammons on Poetry in America’s website
