In October of 1968, a winless Wake Forest University football team was scheduled to go against its most heated rival, the University of North Carolina Tarheels, in the school's new Groves Stadium. As the team climbed off the bus at the Grove Stadium field house the night before the game, 12 student athletes were assigned to each room including room SIX. The athletes in room SIX were starters or were expected to see considerable action that Saturday afternoon. Ron Jurewicz, a fullback from Milwaukee known to his teammates as the "Baby Bull," suggested everyone there sign a piece of paper and promise to return to Wake's homecoming 7 years later in 1975. All "12" followed Jurewicz and signed the pledge. The signed paper was hid above in a ceiling tile that night. The next day Wake Forest defeated UNC 48 to 31. This collection covers WFU's 1968 football team, their historic victory over UNC Chapel that year, and 12 of the players' pledge to return for a reunion in 1975.
