Biographical and Historical Note
William C. Gordon was the Provost at Wake Forest University from 2002-2007. Gordon began his career at Wake Forest as a student on a baseball scholarship. He earned his undergraduate and master's degrees from Wake Forest in 1970, then earned his doctorate from Rutgers University. Gordon became the president at the University of New Mexico in 1999, then returning to Wake Forest in 2002. After Gordon stepped down from provost, he then taught in the psychology department until he retired in 2012.
