Finding Aid & Inventory

Wake Forest University's START gallery, an affiliate of the art department, is a University-run gallery featuring work by students, faculty, and alumni. This collection includes an article pertaining to the gallery, budgetary materials, and promotional materials, dated roughly 2010-2016.

Biographical and Historical Note

Wake Forest University's START Gallery provides local college and university students with an opportunity to gain experience and skills in the visual arts field by providing a venue in which high quality student art at reasonable prices. Founded in 2009, START Gallery is the only year-round venue for viewing, discussing, and purchasing student works of visual art in the Winston-Salem area. An initiative of Wake Forest University, START Gallery presents 12-15 exhibitions per year featuring Wake Forest University undergraduates and alumni. Most of the art work displayed in START Gallery is generated through studio course work and is a product of close instruction by members of Wake Forest University's studio art faculty. START Gallery is managed by a recent graduate serving in a one-year fellowship position and staffed by undergraduate students.

Collection Overview

This collection documents exhibits at and the administration of Wake forest University's START Gallery. Materials include an article, publicity postcards, artists' statements, exhibit compact discs, budget materials, and promotional materials, dated roughly 2010-2016.

This collection is arranged into two series: 1. Gallery materials; and 2. Exhibit posters. Series 1 is arranged alphabetically and Series 2 is arranged chronologically.
