Biographical and Historical Note
The Bellview Baptist Church was organized May 9, 1909. There had been an earlier Bellview Baptist Church that was in existence from 1890 - 1898 when it ceased appearing in the Ashe & Alleghany Baptist Association minutes. The church has had one building built in 1909--a one room frame structure 30' x 40' with a seating capacity of 200. The church was extensively repaired in 1920. The church parsonage was sold in 1936. In 1970 the church was reported to be inactive in the Alleghany Baptist Association. The church was organized by the Reverend George M. Reeves and the Reverend W.J. Banks. The church membership in 1909 was 21; in 1919, 37; in 1929, 50; in 1938, 47; in 1963, 24; in 1971, 44.
