Biographical and Historical Note
Goldsboro Baptist Church was constituted in May 1843. Became "First" Baptist Church at a later date. The church has been a member of Union I [E], 1844-52; Pamlico I [E], 1852-74; Eastern, 1874-84; Atlantic [E], 1884-99; Neuse II [E], 1899-1907; Neuse-Atlantic [E], 1907-29; Neuse, 1929-present.
Collection Overview
Records consist of deacons' record and committee books, 1995-97; the bylaws and constitution (1966); church bulletins, and newsletters, 1997; newspaper clippings, 1955-97 [broken series]; a history of the Woman's Missionary Union (1997), a church directory, 1940; and a series of church history scrapbooks, 1870s-1998.
