      <p>Mount Carmel Baptist Church was likely founded in 1857, when it was admitted to the Pee Dee [E] Baptist Association as a "newly constituted" church. It has been a member of the Pee Dee [F] Baptist Association (1857-1888) and Montgomery Baptist Association (1889- ).</p>

      <head>Scope and Contents</head>
      <p>Manuscripts and newsprint. 1 reel containing 11 volumes. Records consist of minutes of church conferences, from April 15, 1890 to March 10, 1996 [broken series] and include membership rolls and other supporting information. Records include a membership book (1979-1995) and newspaper clippings, 1977-1990. Reel 1 includes church minutes from 1890-1996 and church records from 1977-1995.</p>
