This church alternately calls itself Pilot Mountain Baptist Church, First Baptist Church, and the First Baptist Church of Pilot Mountain. By whatever name, Pilot Mountain Baptist Church appears to have been founded in 1892.</p> </bioghist> <scopecontent id="ref11"> <head>Scope and Contents</head> <p>Microfilm contains the minutes for Pilot Mountain First Baptist Church of Surry County for the years 1892-1899 and 1944-1962. It also contains the constitution, rules of decorum, church covenant, and articles of faith under which the church was founded in 1892. The minutes include information on accounts, membership, and a variety of letters, including the church's "Uniform Associational Letters" from the 1940s. Additionally, an examination of the records shows the many changes that occur in the life of a church. For example, letters and minutes from the 1960s indicate that the church was undergoing a period of expansion and reinvention. At this time, meetings were held to create a new church constitution and new bylaws to replace the older ones from 1892.</p> </scopecontent> <acqinfo id="ref10"> <head>Immediate Source of Acquisition</head> <p>Unclear, but seems to have been acquired from the Pilot Mountain Baptist Association.
