      <head>Historical Note</head>
      <p>This church was organized Aug. 23, 1834. The presbytery consisted of Elder Dennis Lennon, pastor of Lennon's Cross Roads Baptist Church and Elder Elias Davis, who had been ordained by Cross Roads Church, October 14, 1832. Elder Elias Davis was chosen as the pastor, Joseph Wood as deacon, and James B. Singletary as clerk. There were thirty-three charter members, including five slaves.</p>
