      <head>Historical Note </head>
      <p>Fork Baptist Church was organized in 1793. It had been an arm of Dutchman's Creek Baptist Church as early as 1774. John Asplund says it was organized in 1793, with Benjamin Buckner as pastor, John Potts licentiate and 45 members. In 1833 the church split over the mission activity and the minority took custody of the early record book of the church. In 1834 they began another church minute book. They had not had a covenant or articles of faith since the split in 1833, therefore, on the 23rd of August 1851 the church was reconstituted. The church records for the period 1918 through April 1926 were destroyed by a fire, in the clerk's home, 25 April 1926. The records from the years 1950-1956 were not present when they were brought in to be microfilmed.</p>
