It was the first church organized in that community.</p> </bioghist> <scopecontent id="ref11"> <head>Scope and Contents</head> <p>These reels of microfilm contain four minute books for Bethel Baptist Church of Morganton, North Carolina. Book 1 covers the period from 1890 to 1921. Book 2 covers 1930-1963. Book 3 covers 1963-1970. Book 4 covers 1970-1972. Although Book 4 contains only the minutes of the church's meetings, the other books contain additional records. Book 1 also contains the church's Articles of Faith and Church Covenant, as well as information on the pastor's salary. Book 2 contains additional financial information and the church's history.
