      <head>Biographical/Historical note</head>
      <p>Mount Pleasant Baptist Church was organized May 6, 1853. Elder G.W. Rollins of High Shoals Church delivered the sermon and was appointed moderator. The presbytery consisted of Elder William Harrill, J. Bostic, and William Goode of Cool Springs Church and Elder G. W. Rollins, William Smith, and M. Padgett of High Shoals Church. Alfred Morrow was received as deacon from another church and Thomas Tomms and Samuel Bostic were examined and ordained as deacons by the presbytery. There were twenty-two charter members -- eight males and fifteen females. Elder William Harrill was chosen as the first pastor of the church.</p>
