Biographical and Historical Note
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church was organized on April 16, 1868 by a part of the congregation of Holly Springs Baptist Church with the assistance of Reverend J. C. Marcum and Elder O. Churchill. There were eighteen charter members. In January 1904, letters were granted to sixteen members who organized and joined McCullers Baptist Church. At this time a motion was carried to move this church to Willow Springs, but the motion was reconsidered and rescinded at the next church conference.
Collection Overview
Records consist of minutes of church conferences from April 16, 1868 to September 10, 1944, including membership rolls; articles of faith; and a church constitution with rules of decorum. Miscellaneous church records include church letters and deeds, 1880-1954 [broken series].
