They sent Joshua Kelly, William Dillard, and Ezekial Campbell as a presbytery. They met at John Biffle's mill and constituted Newfound Baptist Church on February 27, 1802. In March, the church decided to build a meeting house and elected Thomas Snelson as their first pastor. In May, Snelson was ordained at Big Pidgeon. The church joined Holston, Tennessee Baptist Association in 1802 and sent Snelson, John Grantham, and Daniel Ponder as their delegates.
