      <p>Received as a gift from Mr. J. H. Matthews, Windsor, North Carolina, May 30, 1932. One volume removed by Reverend E. C. Kolb and not returned.</p>

    <bioghist id="ref2">
      <head>Historical Note</head>
      <p>Cashie Baptist Church, located in Bertie County, North Carolina, was constituted in 1771 by Elder Jeremiah Dargan, who was elected as the first pastor. Cashie was received into the Kehukee Association in 1778, and the association met at Cashie Meeting House in 1798. Wiccacon and Ballard's Bridge churches were formed from Cashie. The Baptist Philanthropic Society was formed at Cashie in 1805. The church is a member of the West Chowan Baptist Association.</p>

      <head>Scope and Contents Note</head>
      <p>Records consist of minutes of church conferences from April 2, 1791 to January 15, 1924 and from 1931 to 1975, including membership rolls, biographical sketches, ordinations, treasurer's records, obituaries, and Sunday School materials. Loose items include a photocopy of the church deed (1776); church letters; correspondence, 1883; financial papers; and membership records, 1874, 1884.</p>
