      <head>Historical Note</head>
      <p>Poplar Springs Baptist Church, located in Franklin County, North Carolina, was constituted June 7, 1788. Reconstituted June 7, 1849. This church has been a member of the following Baptist Associations: Kehukee (1793; 1804-23), Neuse (1794-1801), Raleigh (1823-32) and Tar River (1832-present).</p>

      <head>Scope and Contents</head>
      <p>Records consist of minutes of church conferences from June 7, 1788 to September 15, 1877 [broken series]; from June 7, 1899 to April 11, 1908; and from October 1952 to September 19, 1978, including a church covenant, membership rolls, and miscellaneous papers including a deed, 1882; a copy of an undated portion of the church minutes, a slip recording receipts and reimbursements, and a request for a church letter from Ohio, 1877, 1882, and undated.</p>

      <p>Reel 1 microfilmed by Mann Films, Winston-Salem, North Carolina from the originals in the collection and purchased from them. Reel 2 microfilmed by the North Carolina State Archives, Raleigh, North Carolina and purchased from them on September 25, 1978. Volume 1 received on loan to the BHC prior to May 1937. Deed received February 24, 1937, from Mr. C. E. Crawford, Bunn, North Carolina.</p>
