Biographical and Historical Note

The Knights of Honor, also known as K. of H., was a national fraternal order and secret society in the United States from about 1870 to its closing in 1916. It began after disputes mong members of the Order of United American Mechanics over the chapter's use of the name Robert E. Lee; Knights of Honor national founder Darius Wilson thought Lee's name should be used. Knights members were white Christian men of "good moral character."
