Robert Ira Devin was a Baptist pastor primarily in Granville County, North Carolina.

Collection Overview

This collection consists of works by and related to Robert Ira Devin (1822-1914), including biographical information, 1914 and undated; a small amount of correspondence, 1856-1913; a financial accounting for his ward Eller R. Devin, 1864; lecture notes; writings, of himself and others; a photograph of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina meeting in Oxford, North Carolina, 1897; and a few items relating to his son, William A. Devin (1871-1959). W.A. Devin was a Wake Forest College graduate (1890) who later served on the North Carolina Supreme Court. Churches included in the collection include Grassy Creek Baptist Church (Granville County, N.C.) and Oxford First Baptist Church (Oxford, N.C.), as well as Oxford Female College (Oxford, N.C.).
