Across his life, Gore held several occupations including teacher, physician, missionary, and pastor. Reverend Gore was the first pastor of the Piney Forest Church after it was organized in 1869 until 1875 and then again from 1877-1879. In 1871, he led in the organization of the Sunday School. It is unclear but possible that Gore was part of the Confederate States Army during Civil War under the 18th, North Carolina Regiment, as a chaplain.</p> </bioghist> <scopecontent id="ref9"> <head>Collection Overview</head> <p>This collection contains biographical information such as a photograph and articles, written sermons and sermon notes, personal correspondence to a Miss Mary Rockwell, and Cape Fear Baptist Association notes referencing sermons that Gore gave between 1856-1877.</p> </scopecontent> <userestrict id="ref18"> <head>Copyright Notice</head> <p>The nature of the WFU Z.
