Biographical and Historical Note
Professor Forrest W. Clonts (1897-1978) was a long-time member of the History faculty of Wake Forest College. He was born in Florida to Samuel and Harriet Howell Clonts.
Each year, the History Department awards the Forrest W. Clonts Award for Excellence in History to an outstanding history student each year. The judges consider academic achievement, intellectual engagement, and service to the department when choosing the recipient. The Forrest W. Clonts Research Prize in European History is also offered to outstanding students.
