Biographical and Historical Note
Donald O. Schoonmaker was a graduate of Wake Forest College (1960) and later a professor in the Department of Politics. Schoonmaker earned masters and doctoral degrees from Princeton University. He joined Wake Forest as faculty in 1965, became an Associate Professor in 1970 and Professor in 1982, teaching comparative politics, with special emphasis on Western Europe and developing areas. Schoonmaker died Mary 20, 1993, at age 55 due to complications to leukemia.
