Biographical and Historical Note

Reverend Doctor James Irvine Murphy was a Baptist preacher in North Carolina who was born June 30, 1935 and died August 5, 2012. He graduated from Wake Forest University (1962), obtained his doctorate from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and worked in the ministry for 52 years. Murphy also served as the President of the General Board of N.C. Baptist Convention in 1985.
