      <head>Collection Overview</head>
      <p>These documents include two newspaper clippings from the Montgomery Herald (1999), titled "Hamer Creek Baptist" and "Church Bulletin"; church meeting minutes (1861-1873) when its name was Hamer Creek Baptist Church; minutes (1875-1882) when its name was changed to Mount Gilead Baptist Church after reorganization, articles of faith, rules of decorum, and male, female, and African American membership rolls (1865,1875) with occasional notes of dates of dismission, admission, baptism, etc. Also included are church meeting minutes (1883-1894) and male, female, and African American membership rolls (1875-1894) with occasional notes of dates of dismission, admission, baptism, decease, etc. It is handwritten in a softcover notebook which has brittle and yellowed paper.</p>
