Minute book (1849-1868) box 2 volume 1Minutes of church conferences from 2 Sept. 1849 to 25 Sept. 1868, including male, female, and black membership lists; a covenant and articles of faith; and a constitution. Subjects include improvements to church property; the reception, discipline, and dismissal fo church members; the appointment and reports from church committees; the purchase of a communion set (1852); the election of deacons and the church clerk; subscription for a church steeple (1852); the appointment of delegates to teh association meetings and to the Baptist State Convention; the pastor, J. B. Solomon shooting at his slave (1854); the printing of 500 copies of Solomon's dedication address at Sharon (1858); the dismissal of members to constitute a Baptist Church at Sharon Meeting House (July 10, 1858) [now Wise Baptist Church]; and a court case against the church trustees (1854). Minutes from Dec. 1865 to June 1866 missing.
Sunday school meeting minute book (1857-1861) box 1 volume 4Minutes and proceedings of the teachers and officers of the union Sunday School from January 11, 1857 to March 25, 1861, including a constitution (4-5); reports from the superintendent, 1857-60, secretary, 1857-60, librarian, 1858-59, and the treasurer, 1857, 1860. Subjects include the election of officers, financial matters, the celebration of May Day (1857), and committee appointments. Entries are in ink on unnumbered pages after first 27 pages. Loose items are at the end of the volume.
