At the request of the Rev. J.T. Edmundson, Vaughan Baptist Church was organized on October 31, 1897. This collection contains church meeting minutes, including membership lists, articles of faith, and a few minutes of deacons' meetings (1897, 1902-25, 1926-40), financial records, and correspondence. The minutes in Volume 1 are scattered and incomplete.

Biographical and Historical Note

At the request of the Rev. J.T. Edmundson, the following persons met in the Baptist house of worship at Vaughans, Warren Co., N.C. at 3:30PM, October 31, 1897 to organize a Baptist Church: Elders J.T. Edmundson, L.E. Perkinson, Paul Harris, and deacons from Macon, Sharon (now Wise), and others from Littleton and Enterprise Baptist churches. There were thirteen charter members from Enterprise and Littleton Baptist churches. The church met in the old John Vaughan store until 1898, when they began a new building.
