Steve Nedvidek Collection of Old Gold and Black Cartoons
Steve Nedvidek holds a master's degree in theater from WFU (1987). After graduating, Nedvidek had a 30-year career working in communications, innovation, and marketing for Chick-fil-A, Incorporated. He is also a co-author of the award-winning graphic novel series Jekyll Island Chronicles. This collection contains his black-and-white illustrations from 1985 to 1987 that Nedvidek created for Old Gold and Black . Topics addressed include U.S. foreign policy, N.C. laws, University administrative decisions, student life, and sports.
Biographical and Historical Note
Steve Nedvidek was born in Detroit, MI to Bernice and Anthony Nedvidek. His family moved to North Carolina in 1971, and Steve grew up in Whiteville and then Monroe. Steve began drawing as a child, learning illustration and painting from his father. He holds an undergraduate degree from Wingate University (1985) and a master's degree in theater from Wake Forest University (1987). After graduating from WFU, Nedvidek joined Chick-Fil-A, Inc. and worked in communications, innovation and marketing for the fast food corporation. His work at Chick-Fil-A included developing its Kids Marketing strategy and Innovation Center. Most Notably Nedvidek was a contributor to world famous Cow Campaign and also co-created the award-winning alt-history, graphic novel trilogy Jekyll Island Chronicles for IDW publishing, which has received worldwide acclaim. He has been an adjunct professor at Wake Forest since 2019. He and his wife Sue, an WFU alumna (1987), have three children, two granddaughters, and live outside of Atlanta, Georgia.
