Wake Forest University was started in February 1834 as Wake Forest Manual Labor Institute and became Wake Forest College under the guidance of its first president Samuel Wait. This collection contains pastel renderings of both the original Wake Forest, N.C., campus and the Reynolda campus in Winston-Salem.
Biographical and Historical Note
Wake Forest University was started in February 1834 as Wake Forest Manual Labor Institute and became Wake Forest College under the guidance of its first president Samuel Wait. In 1950, then College President Harold W. Tribble broke ground on the Winston-Salem campus, also known as the Reynolda campus, established with a land donation from Charles H. Babcock and Mary Reynolds Babcock.
Collection Overview
This collection contains a series of pastel portraits of the original Wake Forest, N.C. campus and the newer Reynolda campus in Winston-Salem. The Reynolda campus renderings include Wait Chapel and Reynolda Hall.
