Biographical and Historical Note
The Ecumenical Institute was jointly operated by Wake Forest University and Belmont Abbey College
Lawrence Brooks Hays was Executive Director of the Ecumenical Institute from 1968 to 1974. John William Angell was a theology professor at Wake Forest University from 1955 to 1990. One important role of the Ecumenical Institute was to bring together the different churches represented at Wake Forest. In 1969, the Ecumenical Institute held a conference for Roman Catholics and Southern Baptists (LOCATION).
