Biographical and Historical Note
The Bursar of Wake Forest College managed and recorded students tuition payments; functions which are now performed by the Office of Financial Services. William Gaston Simmons, an alumnus of Wake Forest College (1852), served as Assistant and Bursar of Wake Forest College somewhere between his 1852 graduation until his resignation from the position in 1856. From 1855 until his death in 1889, he served as a professor of natural science and chemistry.
