School of Law. Development and Engagement Office Records
Since its founding in 1894, WFU School of Law has grown as an institution for legal education. This collection documents the school's office of development and engagement.
Biographical and Historical Note
In 1894 Wake Forest College offered its first law course. By 1905, Needham Gulley became the program's first Dean and, by 1931, led the school in educating approximately half of North Carolina's lawyers. In the 1950s, the University's Board of Trustees and Dean Carol W. Weathers led the move to Carswell Hall on the Winston-Salem campus. In 1993, the construction of the Worrell Professional Center for Law and Management marked another development milestone. The School of Law continues to expand both its space and its academic and clinical programs in support of the school's mission.
