Biographical and Historical Note
Wake Forest University was established in February 1834 as Wake Forest Manual Labor Institute. Since then, it has educated thousands of students in undergraduate studies, law, medicine, and graduate studies. The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences offers 30 masters and doctoral programs, including interdisciplinary options, as well as 12 joint degrees with the WFU School of Business, Divinity, and medicine. As of 2017, the school has two deans: one oversees Arts and Sciences, the Reynolda campus programs, while the other oversees the Bowman Gray campus programs.
