WFDD is a radio station, owned by Wake Forest University, that airs in 32 western North Carolina counties. The station programming includes news and talk shows during the day and switches to classical music after work hours. Biographical and Historical Note
WFDD is a Wake Forest University owned public radio station. It was founded by Wake Forest students and was fully licensed in 1948. It was originally named "WAKE" until they had to rebrand to "WFDD" which stands for "Wake Forest Demon Deacons." Early on, the station featured sports games, student music programs, and talk guests. Some Wake Forest professors had radio show, including David Smiley's Reid Staton Bible Class. WFDD was a charter member of National Public Radio (NPR) and became available on the Internet in the 1980s.
As of 2020, it airs in 32 western North Carolina counties as well as online. The station programming includes news and talk shows during the day and switches to classical music after work hours.

Audio recordings, Triad Arts Up Close show, on compact disc; and Series 6. Program and recording materials.
