Biographical and Historical Note

Mark Reece served as the dean of men from 1963 until 1984 when he became the dean of students after the dean of men and the dean of women were combined. Reece worked with the Student Union and fraternities, among other student organizations. He also helped to start the Student Union Collection of Contemporary Art. Reece attended Wake Forest University and received his bachelor's degree in 1949. He receieved Wake Forest's highest honor, the Medallion of Merit, in 1996 after his death in 1988. The Wake Forest University's Men's Residence Council was established in 1966 to be responsible for all matters concerning the men living in the College residence houses.The Men's Residence Council four elected officers, four residence house governors, and two councilmen from each of the resident houses.
