University Senate Records
The Wake Forest University Senate was established in 1967 and contains the seven schools of WFU. It advises the Board of Trustees and University administration. This collection contains minutes, memorandums, reports, and by-laws of the Wake Forest University Senate, as well as materials from committees, special issue reports such as Koch Foundation funding at Wake Forest, and official statements on behalf of the Senate.
Biographical and Historical Note
The Wake Forest University Senate was established in 1967 by faculty of the School of Arts and Sciences. Its primary function is to advise the Board of Trustees and WFU administration on faculty input and demands. It is composed of the seven schools of Wake Forest University: the College of Arts and Sciences; the Schools of Business, Divinity, Law, and Medicine; the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences; and Z. Smith Reynolds Library. The Senate has five standing committees: Planning, Resources, University Integration, Fringe Benefits, and Senior University Appointments. The University Senate is responsible for establishing ad hoc and special committees as individual issues arise. It also provides advice to relevant selection committees for the appointment of senior administrative officers; and recommends through the University President to the Boards of Trustees honorary degrees recipients.
