Biographical and Historical Note

The Wake Forest College Birthplace Society began in 1956 as a volunteer effort to document, protect, and preserve the artifacts of Wake Forest College in its original Wake Forest, N.C., location. Since then it has evolved into a non-profit organization that oversees the Wake Forest Historical Museum, which encourages people to visit and learn about the origins of the school. The museum includes the historic Calvin Jones house, which was moved in the 1960s from the original campus to its present location in the Wake Forest historic district. Here it continues to be restored and historically furnished by the Museum.
