Biographical and Historical Note

The Reynolda Gardens are original to the Reynolda estate, which opened in 1917 as a private residence for the family of R. J. and Katharine Reynolds. After many years and a change in ownership, the Gardens were given to Wake Forest University by Charles H. Babcock. The gardens have undergone a series of restorations, with the major one occuring in 1997 in which the gardens were replanted based the original estate blueprints. Today, the gardens are open to the general public and continue to be restored and maintained by a team of gardeners and horticulturists.

Much like the Reynolda Gardens, the Village buildings were donated to Wake Forest University, restored, and developed into commercial buildings. Buildings that once housed farm animals and carriages are now used as offices, resturants, and shops.
