Wake Forest College was founded in 1834 in Wake Forest, N.C., north of Raleigh. It was one of the first institutions of higher learning in North Carolina. These records document the history of Wake Forest University. Records in this collection contain information on the history of the University, ceremonial events, and others. Biographical and Historical Note
Wake Forest College was founded in 1834 in Wake Forest, N.C., north of Raleigh. It was one of the first institutions of higher learning in North Carolina. In 1956, the college moved from Wake Forest to Winston-Salem, N.C. By 1967, the College has expanded its offerings to become Wake Forest University. The University, School of Law, Schools of Business, Divinity School, and the Arts and Sciences programs of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences are located on the main Reynolda Campus. The Biomedical Science graduate programs of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and other programs are located in downtown Winston-Salem, and the School of Medicine is also located around Winston-Salem and in Charlotte.
