This collection documents both groups. Materials in this collection include meeting journals, memberships forms and lists, and finance related materials.</abstract> </did> <bioghist id="aspace_76b69e6664218c6c649de36afa3e8be2"> <head>Historical</head> <p>The Lavoisier Chemical Society was established at Wake Forest University in 1917 with the purpose to advance the study of chemistry by bringing about a closer relationship between the students of chemistry and to cooperate with the Chemistry Department faculty. It was considered the most active departmental club on the campus. This resulted in a petition in 1926, for the society to become a national fraternity known as the Gamma Sigma Epsilon Chemical Fraternity. The Gamma Sigma Epsilon, Alpha Gamma chapter began at WFU in 1926 with the intention to promote academic excellence and undergraduate research scholarship.</p> </bioghist> <arrangement id="aspace_2867d2cb8ba3e0fd915d6eb024de4186"> <head>Arrangement</head> <p>This collection is organized into two series: 1.
